Educated at Vikram University,Ujjain (MP), Professor Ram Rajesh Mishra has completed a Bachelor degree in Science, Master degree in Economics(Gold Medalist ) and a Doctoral degree in Economics. He was Professor and Director of school of studies in Continuing Education at Vikram University and completed tenure of four years of Vice Chancellor of Vikram University from 16th july,2004 to 18th August,2008
Professor Mishra has beenthe recipient the following awards
· UNESCO National Literacy Mission Awards, 1999 (first in india) for outstanding contribution in the field of Adult and Continuing Education, Outreach Programe and Extension Education;

· UNO International Award for excellence in University Education during 2006;
· Dr. Radhakrisnan International Award for Excellence in Higher Education for World Peace, USA Commonwealth Association for the Education and training of Adults (CAETA), UK, the Global Open University, Milan (2006);
· Aksharmitra Award, 2003 for outstanding work in Women Empowerment and Water Conservation;
· Indira Gandhi National Award, 2004 for the National Service Scheme for Youth Activities, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of india;
· Jal Purush Award by Jal satyagrah of Madhya Pradesh and NGOs for excellent performance in the area of water Conservation (2005);
· Jagnnath Smriti Rajbhasha Award by Raj Bhasha Sangarsh Samiti and Hindi Academi, New Delhi (2005);
· Vidwat Bhushan Samman by Akhil Bhartiya Vidwat Parishad, Varanasi (2007)

Along with the normal course of his duties, Professor Mishra has organized and directed many workshops, seminars, refresher/orientation courses, Summer Institutes, Nation and state level workshops on Population Development Eduaction, and Outreach programs. He also organized a two day workshop on Rshtriya Shabdawali. He has produced many publications and research paper both nationally and internationally, on above – mentioned topics.
